Upon graduating, Dave took a personal shopping role at esteemed luxury boutique Matches alongside a further internship, supporting the digital team at Club 21 launch Luella’s online presence. Following this, Dave had a six-year stint at Moss Bros Group (then plc), first as the brand marketing manager for the group’s ‘fashion’ division, delivering marketing communications for the legendary ten-store premium menswear chain, Cecil Gee, as well as sixteen franchised Hugo Boss stores.

Before founding Bashert Communications, director Dave Shaw had a fifteen-year career working for high street fashion retailers. He cut his teeth aged just fifteen as a Sunday junior for Tux ‘N’ Tails, a family-run chain of men's formalwear outfitters, where he rose to become a relief manager, serving any of the group’s nine shops during an eight-year tenure. He undertook this alongside a part-time assistant management role at Crombie concession of Dickens & Jones, Regent Street, which he fit around his studies, obtaining a 2:1 in BA Fashion Management from the London College of Fashion – which also included a one-year internship in the retail operations team at Mulberry.

Following the sale of the ‘fashion’ division, Dave created marketing plans for the 126 stores across five fascias in the group’s ‘mainstream’ portfolio of shops. Shortly after being named one of Drapers 30 Under 30 and Jewish News 40 Under 40 ones to watch, Dave left Moss Bros Group and set up Bashert Communications in 2015. More recently, he provided interim brand management support at Fred Perry in 2022-2023, where he was described by the brand director as ‘the adult in the room and a safe pair of hands’.
